Chahoua Geckos
Also called mossy prehensile-tailed geckos, chahoua geckos are the ultimate New Caledonian gecko pet. Growing a little larger than crested geckos (6-9 inches or up to 100 grams), they are higher on the food chain in New Caledonia and as a result are also less flighty than crested Geckos. Baby chahouas jump pretty minimally, and adults hardly jump at all. They are generally calm, collected, and happy to crawl slowly on your arm or hand. Our chahoua projects focus on high color and high white.

Their care is almost identical to crested geckos: they thrive at temperatures between 70-79 degrees and should be misted twice daily to allow for a higher humidity and drying out period. The only primary difference in care is that chahoua geckos need more protein content than crested geckos, so as a result these geckos must be fed insects at least once per week in addition to the fruit and insect powder diet. We recommend dusting insects with a calcium or vitamin supplement for optimal nutrition as well.
